Too bad there's probably no winner and it's just a cheap trick to get you into the dealership.

Next time I get one of those, I might have to go in and try; however, I think last time I got one it was from a Mitsubishi dealer. I don’t hate myself that much.

I got one of these from a Jeep dealer a while back. I am pretty sure by the way the key was cut that it wasn’t going anywhere. Suffice it to say, I didn’t go in.

With the appropriate application of sufficient force, that bitch will turn.

Do '19 Fiestas even still have physical keys?

Steve Lehto talked about those kinds of contests in a past podcast, darned if I can find which one. basically the dealer tried to weasel out of it by claiming the “winning key” (which worked) wasn’t actually supposed to be the winning key.

Spoiler, that isn’t a Ford key. Don’t bother lol

My eyes are messing up today so when I saw the title I read something entirely different

I used to get one of those every few months when I lived in NC. So much fine print.

Pretty sure these are basically scams. Along with the "win a car" contests in malls that are just intended to get timeshare companies around federal telemarketing restrictions.

*Shoves key into lock, turns key using adjustable wrench*
“Alright you feckers, gimme my car!”

yes. all Fords technically still do, ones with PEPS just hide an emergency key in the fob. if you can’t get in the car e.g. because of a dead battery, you pop the door handle applique off to access the lock cylinder.

Do it. Off hours.

Oh totally. It looks like a toy key.

Not to mention it looks nothing like an actual Fiesta key, not even a stepped blade.

One time a radio station near me had a legitimate contest like this, and the winner just happened to be the very last person in line. They were probably shitting themselves thinking that there was about to be a mob of angry players demanding their money back (it was like $5 a key or something).
Edit: as I was typing that, I realized I may be remembering wrong. It was definitely very late in the contest when somebody won, though. It was a fully-loaded RAM with a bedl oad of outdoor sporting equipment.

Wow they’re not even trying with that one. I’ve got a few that I thought “This could conceivably be what a car key looked like... if it was still 1999" That one looks more like a key for a Dollar Store quality lock. This is, apparently, what a Fiesta key looks like these days?

I wonder if you jammed the fake/ ad key into the ignition lock cylinder of the car, if it would get stuck. Then you could laugh, turn around, and walk away.

it’s probably thin enough to fit in the slot, and as long as the teeth are cut right it’ll disengage the tumblers.

Looks like the fake key is way wider than the real one just to prevent that.

It's not even a real key. Also, that dealer is an hour and a half from me.

Someone should try it and find out, just for grins.

Yeah no don’t go in for that. I work in marketing for a dealership part-time and see these events all the time. They cost tons of money and usually don’t sell that many cars. It does however get people in the doors and contact information put down that could be converted to a future sale. Sometimes you might get a small “gift” or free hot dog out of it, but generally it’s just a big waste of time for everyone involved.
